From field technician to product owner and beyond

Matthew Gagliano has held several positions at Fluidra since starting as a field technician six years ago, but one of his big transitions was from Engineering Lab into Product Management of Automation, which led to his promotion in IoT — where he now leads a team. He’d previously discussed his underutilized electrical engineering background with his manager — so when a leadership position opened on the agile team, his manager advocated for him to take it. Fluidra-provided trainings and a UC Berkeley-based certification course helped fill the gaps in his knowledge and make him successful.

This vision is inspired by Fluidra’s products. “If you consider that our products, when added together, are a system,” she said, “then you realize that the individual teams must move together as one cohesive unit.” To keep that cohesion, Kenyon supports her team through challenges and strives to turn mistakes into learning opportunities for everyone. When teams learn together, their understanding of each other and their goals makes their alignment even stronger.
