BetterUp created a culture that encourages employees to regularly pursue Inner Work through activities like meditation, reading, walking, spending time in nature, volunteering, creating whitespace for oneself, diving into philosophy, journaling for structured reflection, taking time off and participating in coaching and therapy. Employees are encouraged to participate in Inner Work during their workdays, and BetterUp provides five paid Inner Work Days, plus five paid volunteer days annually, knowing that investing in this helps employees not only improve their own lives, but also benefits the team as we become more creative, innovative and adaptable when doing day-to-day outer work.
Employees receive an annual $1,000 stipend that can be spent on a wide range of workshops, classes and resources relating to harnessing creativity, honing technical skills, improv, and more. Our learning & development stipend and monthly lifestyle stipends go beyond what most companies cover. Our L&D program supports our people in enriching their lives and minds to push our limits as professionals, makers, artists, and researchers in the relentless pursuit of our best selves. Our annual $600 lifestyle stipend covers physical health/fitness activities and materials, financial wellbeing services, pet products and services, caregiving/childcare costs and more.
Our medical benefits aim to ensure that our people and their families are cared for – our Health Reimbursement Account benefit is designed to support family growth, family planning, gender-affirming procedures, and support for abortion services. We increased the allotment to $25,000/year, covering a variety of eligible services and costs, including out-of-state travel.
