What makes for a compelling story? More than just a rich plot — there needs to be a worthwhile mission, smart characters and challenges to tackle. The same is true for a fulfilling job. As professionals at Audible innovate within the audio storytelling field, they leverage the different intangibles that, like a captivating narrative, transport them to where they want to go. “One of the best parts of working here is the people that you end up working with,” Product Manager AJ Huaranca said. “They’re like a bunch of heroes working on each and every facet of this grand experience. And each and every one of them really wants to help you succeed.”

Putting serious action behind important efforts
Audible turns up the volume on DEI via its Spectrum & Belonging (S&B) program, which is steered by Supriya Mimani. From talent-development initiatives like its high school internship program and its Returnship program guiding caregivers back into the workplace, S&B gives a platform for activating potential. “Efforts are centered around reflecting the glories of the human spectrum and ensuring that Audible is an empowering place where each of us can be ourselves, raise concerns and innovate without fear of failure, no matter how we identify,” she said.

Leadership built for the times
Tim Martin
CTO
Leading Audible’s entire tech org makes the ability to pivot, adapt and grow essential for Tim Martin. Martin thinks resiliency requires customer-centricity, “robust, reliable technology architecture” and an agile mindset. Those values were especially on display while adapting offerings to meet the uncertainty of the past few years, like leveraging streaming technology to roll out Audible Live — featuring video interviews with authors and other industry figures — online and in-app when virtual engagements became the norm.
I’m really proud of what we accomplished during the pandemic in service to our customers. We stuck by our principles, yet evolved to meet these unprecedented challenges, where instantly we were all in a virtual world and very disrupted by what was happening.
Embark on a fulfilling professional chapter
AJ Huaranca recalls having written out his goal of working at Audible on his refrigerator well before working there. So imagine his delight when he was contacted by the team about a job. “I was jumping up for joy. Literally, I did a jump,” Huaranca said. That enthusiasm spilled over into his role as a corporate systems-focused project manager, where he finds the support flourish. “Audible is doing a really great job of just helping me along and getting me to the right spot, while valuing the expertise I bring,” he said. There are a lot of opportunities to coach and be coached.”
