As Atlanta companies settle into the New Year, they’re going full speed ahead to innovate their solutions. With developments across transportation services and logistics systems, find out how these companies are paving paths toward the future. This is the Built In Atlanta weekly refresh.

Accelerant raised $193M. The insurance provider works with SMBs. Accelerant established a network of underwriters ​​empowered by its internal data solution InSightFull to understand the specific risks small businesses face. The company pulled in $193 million in equity funding led by Eldridge at a $2.2 billion valuation. Accelerant plans to scale its team as well as its geographical footprint. [Built In Atlanta] 

Microsoft is expanding its Atlanta presence. With plans to establish its next data center region, dubbed “East US 3,” the tech giant purchased an additional 17 acres of land in Fulton County. It plans to build two of its three new data centers in Palmetto and East Point, and the remaining one in Douglas County. As the company scales, it’s currently hiring for hundreds of roles across teams like engineering, marketing and others. [Built In Atlanta]

Flashtract pulled in $15M. Operating a SaaS platform for the construction industry, Flashtract works to streamline contractor’s billing and payment operations. It announced a Series A round co-led by Addition and Shine Capital to build out its platform’s capabilities. With plans to add new products and services, the company also is hiring to expand its team. It currently lists available roles spanning sales, product and engineering. [Built In Atlanta]

Tourial got $3.4M. Providing software businesses with a platform to walk potential buyers through their products, Tourial raised a round of seed funding to further its solution. Its SaaS solution works to help companies tell their product’s story. Led by Bonfire Ventures, the round will go toward creating new product features, expanding its platform across more channels and hiring new talent to its team. [Built In Atlanta]

MedTrans Go secured $1.5M. Eliminating the distance between patients seeking care and their medical facilities, MedTrans Go developed a solution to remove the various barriers that may keep people from getting to their appointments and to other resources. Offering solutions from transportation to language interpretation, the marketplace platform is expanding its service to more locations and growing its customer base. Flock Safety appointed a new COO. On a mission to eliminate crime in neighborhoods across the nation, Flock Safety operates a network of cameras that capture high-definition images of license plates. Following its Series D last year, the company is furthering its growth with the appointment of Elan Greenberg, formerly of DoorDash, as its new COO. In his new position, Greenberg will be in charge of leading Flock Safety’s field operations, product implementation, project management and supply chain divisions. [GlobeNewswire]
