Sure the latest initiatives from the Teslas, Apples and Googles of the industry tend to dominate the tech news space — and with good reason. Still, the tech titans aren’t the only ones bringing innovation to the sector.
In an effort to highlight up-and-coming startups, Built In launched The Future 5 across 11 major U.S. tech hubs. Each quarter, we will feature five tech startups, nonprofits or entrepreneurs in each of these hubs who just might be working on the next big thing. Read our round-up of Atlanta’s rising startups from last quarter here.

Climate change continues to be a looming global concern, one that grows in severity by the day. Fortunately, there are ways we can work to combat a warming Earth, starting with reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. It may not be possible for every employee on the planet to bike to work or for every business to power their location with solar panels, but Atlanta-based Cloverly works to highlight the ways we can lower the amount of carbon people and companies unavoidably release.
Organizations of all sizes can use Cloverly’s sustainability-as-a-service API to offset their carbon footprint based on real-time business activities, such as driving, using electricity or shipping packages. Its solution calculates the carbon footprint of any such activities, provides options to offset that amount with nearby offset project locations, purchases renewable energy credits in the amount needed to cover these emissions and finally shares a digital receipt for the purchase of that offset.
“Our goal is to contribute to significant progress against climate change by helping companies and consumers reduce their unavoidable emissions through carbon reduction solutions.”
“To achieve meaningful progress with climate change, companies and consumers need to reduce their footprint. It starts with decarbonization, but companies will still have significant unavoidable emissions, which leads them to carbon removals,” Jason Rubottom, CEO of Cloverly, told Built In via email. “Quality carbon removals and offsets are difficult to access. This is where Cloverly fits in. Cloverly’s technology makes it easy to access, evaluate and purchase credits from verified projects with confidence. This ultimately accelerates our progress with climate change.”
Anthony Oni founded Cloverly in 2019 with the goal of providing people with transparency and access to carbon reduction solutions, according to Rubottom. Oni had a passion for fighting climate change and had a vision of empowering people to reduce the amount of carbon they couldn’t prevent emitting.
The company got its start serving business clients in the e-commerce industry by helping brands deliver carbon-neutral shipping to their customers. Today, it has grown to serve customers in sectors including financial services, carbon accounting, logistics, travel and crypto.
“Our goal is to contribute to significant progress against climate change by helping companies and consumers reduce their unavoidable emissions through carbon reduction solutions,” Rubottom said.
