Zocdoc, a healthcare access infrastructure solution, recently opened its infrastructure to AI agents. This new invitation enables agents to find vetted providers, verify insurance plans and book confirmed appointments with providers on behalf of patients. The announcement coincides with Zocdoc’s new partnership with AI agent Instinct.
“Most of the internet is treating AI agents like intruders. We are welcoming them because we believe we have a responsibility to help agents get it right for patients,” Dr. Oliver Kharraz, Zocdoc’s CEO, said in a statement. “In healthcare, if agents send patients to a doctor who does not exist, an appointment that isn’t available or a provider who doesn’t take their insurance, the consequences are real, and it’s the patient who pays the price. We’ve spent nearly 20 years obsessing over the details that make access actually work. We could insist that patients come through our front door. Instead, we’re bringing trusted, reliable healthcare booking to them, wherever they are.”
The company’s partnership with Instinct gives the agent direct access to its model context protocol to help reliably connect patients to care. Zocdoc makes sure the appointments Instinct books integrate directly onto providers’ calendars to provide a trustworthy and secure experience. Instinct joins other AI platforms, including Google Gemini and Amazon Health AI, as part of Zocdoc’s Care Access Network.
