Dine + Dash: Pizza and Code for Beginners, February 29 at 6:30 p.m.
Dash is the easiest tool to learn HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Come meet and work alongside other hackers in the making as we navigate our way through fun online tutorials. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of front-end web development and will meet like-minded friends who are also new to code. You’ll also build something awesome along the way. This will be a casual, self-paced session with pizza and beer.
Diversity in Tech Community ThinkTank, February 29 at 6:30 p.m.
There’s a growing concern for the lack of inclusion and diversity across the tech ecosystem, from the pipeline to the boardroom. While we all work as companies or organizations through the increasing focus on diversity and inclusion, we don’t often gather to hear diverse perspectives on what is working and what isn’t. Join MakerSquare for a panel discussion and group roundtable “idea workshops” as we discuss diversity in tech and what our community is doing to address this important issue.
The What & Why of APIs, March 1 at 7 p.m.
From Twitter to Facebook to Tumblr to smartphones to ATMs, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) power our digital lives. In this session, we will discuss the basics of APIs: what they are, how they work, and why they matter. We will look at the APIs that power several popular services such as Foursquare and Instagram, and discuss the ways that businesses like American Express have used these APIs to their advantage. Even if you’ve never heard the term “API” before, you will walk away with a better understanding of the secret language spoken by the devices and applications that we interact with every day.

Come join us for a Thursday night celebration with the team behind the leading marketing engine for local businesses. Register here.
