Ride-hailing giant Uber is gearing up to acquire Turkey-based Getir’s delivery business. Working in tandem with Mubadala Investment Company, Uber’s latest acquisition agreement will net it food, grocery, retail and water delivery services from Getir’s offerings.

The move deepens Uber’s commitment to the Turkish market as Getir joins Trendyol Go in Uber’s business portfolio. By combining the strengths of these two platforms, Uber will be able to increase product selection, provide more courier delivery opportunities and fuel higher demand for restaurants and retailers throughout the country. Customers of Getir and Trendyol Go will be able to access offerings from each company through their respective mobile apps.

“With a thriving digital economy and a dynamic consumer base, Uber is committed to investing in [Turkey] for the long term,” Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber’s CEO, said in a statement. “By bringing together these leading platforms, we aim to support the continued growth of a vibrant and competitive ecosystem that delivers even more value for consumers, couriers and merchants.”
