Chicagoans can take uberPOOL for free this St. Paddy's Day

Uber Chicago has somewhat of a penchant for getting into the holiday spirit, and if their plans for this weekend’s St. Paddy’s Day celebrations in Chicago say anything, lucky Uber users can once again expect a discount or two.

From 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday, the company is offering free uberPOOL rides across the city, whether you’re adventuring downtown to check out the green Chicago River or headed to the next stop on your bar crawl.

The offer caps out at $30 and only works with parties of one to two riders, but because you’ll be sharing your ride with a few other riders, prices are generally lower than rides for single-users.

The offer comes just months after Uber faced New Year’s Eve criticism when users woke up to find that — thanks to high surcharges and a bit of drunken distractions on the part of the user — they’d been charged hundreds of dollars for a single ride.

All users have to do to take advantage of free uberPOOL is enter the promotion code “GOLDCHI” in their regular app, and continue ordering a ride as usual. Some cars will come stocked with St. Patrick’s day goodies and gear.

In addition to free rides, the company is also offering free “Fuel Pack’s” the morning after to help users power through a hangover. For a $5 delivery fee, users get a Pedialyte powder pack, eye mask, a Green River Glazed donut, and some uber swag, like sunglasses and a water bottle. That offer is available 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (while supplies last). That promo code is GREENCHI.
