Google buys Boulder campus for $131M
Google has been operating in Boulder for 11 years. If any questions about the company’s commitment to the community remained, they were squashed with its $131 million acquisition of its current Boulder campus as well as the adjacent developed land. Google had initially intended to lease the land, but decided to buy, signaling plans to continue growing its presence in Colorado. [Denver Business Journal]
DispatchHealth raises $31M to expand on-demand healthcare services platform
Denver-based DispatchHealth raised $30.8 million to support the growth of its tech-enabled healthcare delivery platform. The company, which was founded in 2013 by two practicing physicians, plans to use the new capital to scale the development of its technology platform and expand into several new markets within the next year. DRUD Tech brings on open source veteran Steven Grandchamp as new CEO
DRUD Tech, a provider of open source development tools, announced this week the appointment of industry veteran Steven Grandchamp as its new CEO. Grandchamp formerly served as CEO of OpenLogic, a Denver-based open source software company which was acquired by Rogue Wave Software in 2013. He also led document imaging provider IMR to an exit to Captaris, Inc., and held a number of executive and leadership roles at other open source organizations. [Press release]
Arrow Electronics brings tech expertise to Colorado Smart Cities Alliance
This week, local electronics giant Arrow announced it has joined a Denver coalition to adopt smart city technologies here in the Mile High City. The Colorado Smart Cities Alliance formed earlier this year with the goal of progressing efforts to make local municipalities “smarter” through the use of IoT technology and infrastructure. The company will advise on the use of such technologies, drawing on its decades-long experience working on product design and technology distribution. [Denver Business Journal]
SurveyGizmo partners with PlaceSpeak to integrate with citizen engagement platform
Boulder-based survey and data insights provider SurveyGizmo just announced a partnership with PlaceSpeak, which delivers a location-based citizen engagement platform. Through the partnership, PlaceSpeak customers will now have access to SurveyGizmo’s suite of survey and reporting tools directly through the PlaceSpeak platform. In addition, SurveyGizmo clients will be able to conduct location-based public consultations through PlaceSpeak and incorporate other features like polls, discussion forums and participatory mapping.
