
Techstars announces new class
Techstars Boulder announced the companies participating in their 2017 class this week. Of the 13 companies to join this class, five are from Colorado: Sitter, Airstream Health, Blank Slate Systems, IronCore Labs and Stateless. Faction raises $11M Series B
Denver-based cloud services provider Faction announced this week they’d raised $11 million in a Series B. The round’s investors included existing partners Meritage Funds and Sweetwater Capital, along with new equity investors Charterhouse Strategic Partners and Rifkin-Pottle Group. Ares Capital Corporation also provided debt financing. The company plans to use the funds to grow their team and expand their global footprint. [Press release]

Robots & Pencils merges with KINETiQ DIGITAL
Mobile strategy firm Robots & Pencils announced this week they have merged with digital agency KINETiQ DIGITAL. The two companies will now operate under the Robots & Pencils brand together. Through the merger, the company, which has an office in Castle Rock, hopes to have greater scaling capabilities. [Press release]

Cybersecurity exercise to take place in Colorado Springs
In a partnership between the National Cybersecurity Center and the National Cyber Exchange, security professionals, emergency managers, utility providers and other are invited to take part in a cybersecurity exercise in Februrary. The Colorado Springs event will focus on simulated attacks on U.S. infrastructure and serves to prepare attendees to handle emergencies and cyber threats. [Colorado Springs Gazette]

Atlanta company moving HQ to Denver, expects to add 100 jobs
This week, Atlanta-based eFolder announced they’ll relocate their headquarters to Denver, adding more than 100 jobs. The company was drawn to the state by a $2.6 million tax credit from the Colorado Economic Development Commission, which was designed to incentivize companies to create more jobs. eFolder’s existing offices in Atlanta and San Francisco will be consolidated in Denver. AppIt Ventures acquires London company
Denver’s AppIt Ventures announced this week they’ve acquired The App Geeks, a London-based development shop. Through the acquisition, AppIt will purchase all of The App Geeks’ existing contracts and create a new company called AppIt Ventures Limited. This marks the company’s third international office.
