Since 2008, Dallas-based Tango has used analytics and artificial intelligence to help retailers identify store locations and corporations identify office sites. Tango also manages construction projects and maintains facilities as part of its end-to-end lifecycle management platform.

When the real estate industry was turned upside down by the pandemic and the ensuing shift to remote and hybrid workplaces occurred, Tango took a look outside its existing model of real estate planning, building and operating needs to explore the “people side of real estate.” This looks at the needs that employees have as they re-enter hybrid workspaces, according to a company news release.

In January, Tango acquired workplace reservation platform AgilQuest. On Wednesday, it announced it had acquired Canadian startup billie, which like AgilQuest, allows employees to book workspaces and submit workplace service requests.

Billie has more than 40 clients, including Canadian public sector agencies. Tango said was particularly attracted to the platform’s “my contributions” functionality, which encourages employees to create positive change in the world, essentially gamifying an organization’s environmental, social and governance goals.

“The accelerated shift to hybrid work means organizations need to better understand the intersection of their office and employee requirements,” Tango CEO Pranav Tyagi said in a statement. “Billie’s gamification orientation adds a new dimension to Tango’s reservation and resource scheduling capabilities and provides our customers a new and innovative way to meet the requirements of today’s workplace.”

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The billie platform will be rebranded and folded into Tango’s integrated workplace management solution. Billie’s employees will join the Tango team.
