Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX is reportedly preparing to invest $2 billion in xAI, Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, as part of a broader $5 billion equity fundraising effort announced by Morgan Stanley, according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal.
If finalized, this would mark SpaceX’s first direct investment in xAI and rank among the company’s largest investments to date. WSJ also reported that SpaceX is already using xAI’s Grok chatbot to support customer service for its Starlink satellite internet service.
This kind of intercompany investment isn’t new for Musk. Earlier this year, xAI merged with X (formerly Twitter), another Musk-owned company, further intertwining his growing portfolio of tech ventures.
