Skild AI, a company working to develop AI solutions for the physical world, will reportedly receive financial backing from Softbank and NVIDIA, according to a Reuters exclusive. The investment could exceed $1 billion and potentially value Skild AI at about $14 billion.

The company develops foundational AI models that enable robots to navigate unstructured, dangerous environments. Its mobile manipulation platform can execute low-level skills like grasping, handover and navigation on mobile platforms. Skild’s tech also extends to autonomous packing capabilities with heightened dexterity.

SoftBank and NVIDIA could be looking to invest in Skild as it develops AI algorithms and apps that can act as universal software for robots of varying forms. Its goal is to accelerate the broader deployment of general-purpose machines in factories and homes, the Reuters article mentioned. The potential funding would follow Skild AI’s $300 million Series A from investors like Jeff Bezos, SoftBank and Lightspeed, putting it at a $1.5 billion valuation.
