Promptfoo, an open-source AI security testing platform, announced $18.4 million in Series A funding led by Insight Partners. As risk profiles increase alongside AI adoption, Promptfoo aims to equip enterprises with a continuous workflow for strengthening complex agentic systems.

The company’s solution detects and mitigates risks like prompt injection, data leakage and insecure tool use to help developers and security teams secure large language models and generative AI applications. Promptfoo has come to serve more than 100,000 developers since launching its open-source platform last year, and that includes enterprise customers spanning the retail, telecom and finance sectors.

Outfitted with its fresh funding, Promptfoo plans to fuel expansion. The company will scale its team and invest in platform development as it works to meet demand from Global 2000 companies looking to secure their AI deployments.
