Perplexity, a notable contender in the generative AI answer engine space, unveiled its new AI web browser, Comet. The product aims to ensure web interfaces become “as fluid and responsive as human thought itself,” according to a company blog post.

Comet acts as an intelligent assistant that conducts complete browser sessions based on its user’s thought process. The browser enables users to ask questions in natural language and consolidate complex workflows into straightforward conversations. For instance, the tool can help quickly compare products or find deals, as well as send emails and book meetings based on specific contexts.

Comet is designed to execute complete workflows while retaining relevant context, working to make all webpages more informational and interactive to sate user curiosity. The browser is currently only available to Perplexity Max subscribers, but the company will roll out invite-only access to its waitlist over the summer.

Perplexity plans to continue advancing Comet, adding new features and functionalities to the browser that enhance the experience based on user feedback.
