Passion for Employee Happiness and Startups

My dream for my career is to work with employees and their happiness.  Today I write this blog post in hopes of connecting with some great startups.  I have the drive to work in such a fast paced environment and wear all the stylish hats that help your great companies grow.  I have a passion for human resources, and to study what makes each of your employees and customers’ tick.

In 2014 I received my Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Wyoming.  After taking my first Human Resource class I realized that I belonged in the field.  Fascinated by things that startups do for their employees, I wanted to be an advocate of what I like to call “The Happiness Coordinator” title.  I found that a great company culture drove the employees to success.  The few extra benefits you could offer your employees pushed them to not only be more productive, but for the company to see higher profits and less turnover.

My grandpa introduced me to the work of Dale Carnegie at the age of 11.  Shortly after graduating college I started to study happiness on my own time.  I began to fill notebooks, PowerPoints, and lesson plans out for hours.  I couldn’t get enough of this work/life balance stuff.  I researched more about companies like Google and Zappos who seem to do whatever they can to keep their employees happy.  Have you seen the employee reviews on Glassdoor?  It amazed me what little they had to do, and yet what so many companies don’t do!  I can’t tell you how often I hear friends and family complain about their day at work - we all hear it!  Why is this great company culture concept so hard for employers to understand?

I have over 10 years of front desk experience mostly in the Department of Motor Vehicle - You could say I have worked with all walks of life.  I have researched over 15 books on happiness and HR, countless Harvard articles, and words of wisdom from the great Dale Carnegie.  Not to mention I am currently taking a mindfulness class that has taught me how to be a better person and live more in the moment.  Unfortunately I was turned down from different startup jobs because they didn’t believe I had enough HR experience.  “You need experience to get a job, but you need a job to get experience;” *Insert Chuckle.  You can ask any of my friends how much I smile, laugh, and try to brighten everyone’s day.  I am interested in a career that will help expand my human resource knowledge and help me grow in a great company.  I have the passion to motivate, create, and lead employees to their best work/life balance.  Not every day at work is a walk in the park, but why not make the 8+ hours of your day more enjoyable?
