About our company:
One World Kitchen delivers authentic ingredients from local ethnic restaurants directly to your kitchen. Order online and everything you need to make an authentic Thai, Greek, Indian or other ethnic meal arrives at your home. Our "Chef's Kit" contains individually wrapped and portioned chopped fresh ingredients, special sauces and easy-to-follow instructions.
One World Kitchen eliminates the "I don't have time" factor and provides inspiration around dinner for the 17% of Americans looking for something more from their home cooking experience. With our "Chef's Kit", busy parents, professionals, and everyday foodies can make a fun, fresh, restaurant-quality ethnic meal in 15 minutes.
Chicago Lean Launch Challenge:
One World Kitchen participated in the Chicago Lean Launch Challenge 2012. Here's a summary of our key learnings from the past 8 weeks of the competition:
Customers
- Customers value convenience (time saved) as a premium
Revenue Model
- Increase price
- Charge for delivery
Customer Segment
- Target a second demographic customer type
Marketing
- Include familiar ethnic cuisines and dishes to increase repeat sales
Distribution
- Restaurants don’t want to do additional deliveries
- Customers value the presentation and we need to own the whole value chain, including delivery, and ensure it arrives in good condition
Partners
- Fewer restaurant partners will reduce our costs and complication
- Customers do not place a high value on ingredients coming from specific restaurants
Channels
- Some customers are willing to become evangelists
- Word of mouth / online social media are the best ways people learn about our product
