Getting stuck with car trouble will indefinitely put a damper on anyone’s day, especially if their business hinges on driving from customer to customer. For plumbers, landscapers, delivery drivers and field service workers, NuBrakes is on a mission to alleviate the burden that comes with getting vehicles serviced, and it just pulled in $9 million in Series A funding to expand its platform for on-site auto repairs.

Dual headquartered in Austin and Atlanta, NuBrakes developed a solution for individuals and fleet operators to request auto maintenance services at their home, office or apartment. Its solution is intended to replace time-consuming and costly trips to mechanic shops.

“Consumers and businesses spend $185 billion per year on auto maintenance, repair and tire services,” Walker Drewett, CEO and founder of NuBrakes, said in a statement. “This number is much higher when you factor in the opportunity cost of managing repairs, including lost revenue, and time spent on each service for business fleets.”

The company’s platform allows fleet operators to automate vehicle maintenance as well as organize their scheduling, inspection history, communications and payments in a central place. NuBrakes has also incorporated on-board predictive telematics systems with its fleet customers. The tech enables it to gather data straight from a vehicle itself to proactively create a preventative maintenance schedule. With real-time data collection, NuBrakes can also alert a business when one of their vehicles encounters issues like flat tires or engine problems.

NuBrakes is in the process of expanding these capabilities and turning the auto repair process into an automated self-service experience for customers. It’s investing its new funding in more than doubling the size of its 110-person team, growing its national footprint and expanding its service offerings to include things like oil changes, battery replacements, tune-ups and suspension.

The company recently expanded into Atlanta amid a rise in consumer demand for its services, as reported by Atlanta Inno. It established its local office in the Roam Buckhead co-working building and officially launched services in the area at the start of this year. NuBrakes currently operates in nine markets across Texas, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

As it builds out its platform and presence, NuBrakes is hiring new additions to its team with a focus on leadership, product and engineering roles, according to the company. It’s actively hiring for an Atlanta-based technician.
