McCain Foods recently announced the establishment of its newest Farm of the Future in North Yorkshire, U.K. This marks McCain’s third farm as part of this initiative, which aims to help farmers understand, test and showcase regenerative agricultural practices. The site joins McCain’s other Farms of the Future in Canada and South Africa.
Situated in McCain’s Great Britain headquarters city, the North Yorkshire farm spans 202 hectares and will practice controlled traffic farming, year-round soil cover and biodiversity building. The site will also implement a circular nutrient system developed in partnership with the University of Leeds National Pig Centre.
McCain is the U.K.’s largest manufacturer of frozen potato products with a workforce exceeding 1,400 people across four processing facilities and a seed potato business. Its newest Farm of the Future is set to begin potato production in 2026, helping address challenges like unpredictable weather and declining soil health through increased adoption of regenerative farming practices.
“McCain Farm of the Future U.K. marks an important step in how we are scaling regenerative agriculture across our global Farms of the Future,” Max Koeune, McCain Foods’ president and CEO, said in a statement. “Each site helps us test real solutions with farmers, understand what works, and share that knowledge across our network. This is how we strengthen the resilience of our farms, support our partners, and build a more sustainable food system for the long term.”
