Bay Area-based Luminary Cloud has raised $72 million in a Series B funding round led by N47, with additional support from Sutter Hill Ventures and NVentures.

According to a news release, the funding will go toward research and development of Luminary’s Physics AI technology, as well as expanding the company’s go-to-market team to reach more engineering-focused customers.

Physics AI is a type of artificial intelligence that uses physics-based models to simulate how products like vehicles, aircraft and electronics perform in real time. Luminary says its platform, called the Physics AI Model Factory, includes tools such as a Model Context Server and an AI-assisted Notebook. These solutions are designed to help engineers build, run and refine simulation models more efficiently, allowing for faster design iterations and easier analysis of results.
