In this day and age, Lithuanians are well-known as fans of basketball, rye bread and potatoes. But they also have a penchant for ICT, or information and communication technology. ICT is the highest growth sector in the country’s capital Vilnius, and in the first half of 2024, the industry accounted for a quarter of Lithuania’s economic growth. Here, about two-thirds of households have access to broadband internet connections and urban download speeds are among the fastest in Europe.

Tech Companies in Lithuania 

Flo is an app that enables users to track menstrual and hormonal symptoms, which is available on iOS and Android in 22 languages. Along with tracking pregnancy, ovulation and menstrual cycles, it offers a health library and hormone calculators. The app can be set to share with a partner or to an anonymous mode, which adds a layer of encryption that ensures that even the company can’t identify the user.

 

Green Genius is headquartered in the Šnipiškės area of Vilnius. It operates as a renewable energy company, with solar energy, wind energy, biomethane energy, hydrogen projects and energy storage projects in development across eight countries. The company claims that it prevents more than 212,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. 

 

Planner 5D is an AI-powered interior design and home improvement platform that allows users to draw a floor plan and create a 3D home design within 10 minutes. Patrons can render their designs in 4K after setting their floor plan, designing their room and decorating it. Its services come in a free plan, as well as two paid plans with different levels of access. 

 

Trafi was designed by a group of students who were frustrated with complicated public transportation. It works with city governments and companies around the world to create fully integrated, efficient and multi-modal transport planning platforms. The company has worked with Berlin, Brussels, Portsmouth, Southampton and the Isle of Wight, Munich, Zurich, Basel and Bern. Trafi is headquartered in the Piromontas area of Vilnius. 

 

BitDegree is headquartered in the Naujamiestis area of Vilnius. The online education platform offers scholarships and smart cryptocurrency incentives that allow students to learn job-applicable Web3 skills. This includes research, solving quizzes and tackling blockchain within a set gamified time limit.
