Kate Spade New York Appoints Executive Creative Director

The fashion brand announced that Jonathan Saunders will assume the role, effective August 26.

Tapestry-owned fashion brand Kate Spade New York recently announced the appointment of a new leadership team member. Jonathan Saunders will join the company as the executive creative director, effective August 26, to lead brand direction across product design and visual identity.

“Kate Spade has always stood for positivity, femininity and a touch of wit,” Eva Erdmann, Kate Spade’s CEO, said in a statement. “Jonathan shares our consumer obsession, and he understands the heart of our brand. He’s also a collaborative leader and I’m excited to work together to introduce an uplifting vision of luxury to a new generation of consumers.”

Prior to joining Kate Spade, Saunders served as chief creative director at & Other Stories. His professional history includes over two decades of fashion industry experience at companies including Diane Von Furstenburg, Calvin Klein, Tiffany & Co., Pucci and Alexander McQueen.  

Tapestry’s portfolio of accessories and lifestyle brands includes Kate Spade New York and Coach. Kate Spade designs handbags, clothes, shoes, jewelry and other accessories with an emphasis on balancing craft with a playful spirit through functionality, color and detail. Upon assuming his new position, Saunders will relocate to the brand’s New York headquarters in Hudson Yards.
