Delhi has become a major tech hub in India, due in no small part to the growth of Noida and Gurgaon in the broader National Capital Region (NCR). Ranging from local standouts to multinational corporations, this list takes a closer look at the companies that are shaping Delhi’s IT sector.

10 Top IT Companies in Delhi

Microsoft, the software giant best known for developing the Windows operating system and software tools like Word, Excel and Powerpoint, employs 20,000 people across 10 offices in India. With India Development Centers in Hyderabad and Bangalore, Microsoft opened its third R&D hub in Noida in 2021, when it opened a 90,000-square-foot office at Sovereign Capital Gate and a 150,000-square-foot office at KP Towers. Microsoft also has an office in Gurgaon.

Google, developer of the world’s most popular search engine, is on the forefront of research about artificial intelligence and large language models. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, the tech giant operates four offices in India, including an office in nearby Gurgaon. When it opened its eight-floor office at Unitech Signature Towers II in 2014, the company had 450 employees.

Hitachi, a Tokyo-based conglomerate that spans the technology and industrial sectors, has a regional headquarters in New Delhi, along with an office for Hitachi Systems, its IT services and solutions division. GlobalLogic, its digital product engineering subsidiary, has an office in Noida. In Gurgaon, the company has offices for Quality Life Enterprises, which offers digital solutions for the hotel management industry, and Hitachi High-Tech India, which develops technology for industrial systems. All told, Hitachi has a global workforce of 370,000 employees, 33,000 of whom are based in India.

HCL Technologies, which rebranded to HCLTech in 2022, is a large IT services and consulting company that assists businesses with digital engineering, cloud adoption and IoT solutions. HCLTech can accommodate more than 25,000 employees at its 52-acre headquarters in Noida. It has a global workforce of 225,000 employees, more than 171,000 of whom are in India.

Oracle, which is best known for its relational database management system, provides business clients with cloud infrastructure, cloud applications and software applications. The Texas-based company employs 40,000 people in India and 170,000 team members globally. Oracle has an office in Noida, and its financial services software division has an outsourcing office in Gurgaon’s Cyber City development.

IBM, which played a formative role in the computing revolution, provides businesses with software, cloud infrastructure and IT services. The company employs 130,000 workers in India, with its regional headquarters in Bangalore. IBM launched its research division in Delhi in 1998, and one of its two research offices remains nearby at the Cyber City IT hub in Gurgaon. The IBM Research - India team has been credited with significant contributions to IBM’s AI research.
