One of the world’s largest, and arguably most important, electronics and technology trade shows is underway in the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year’s Consumer Electronics Show is huge. Over 170,000 attendees have gathered to ogle 2.2 million square feet of tech exhibits from over 3,631 companies. As it should happen, this year, 43 of those companies are from Colorado.
It’s hard to understate the importance of the Consumer Electronics Show. Everything from the VCR and the camcorder to the driverless car and several Android operating systems have been debuted at the event. If it was a technological marvel and you bought one, there's a good chance it was unveiled to the world at the Consumer Electronics Show.
The Colorado companies exhibiting range from small startups to some of the state’s largest companies. Up-and-comers like the 3D printing firm
and the connected toys creators at are there, alongside big companies like EchoStar and Charter Communications.
The Consumer Electronics Show has also become something of a venue for other tech related events. Notably, this year, three Colorado companies were chosen to pitch, live and onstage, to Richard Branson as part of the Extreme Tech Challenge. , and
will all be presenting this afternoon for a chance to visit the notoriously eccentric billionaire’s private island. We’ll keep you updated on how that goes.
