Austin Diversity in Tech MeetUp, June 26 at 6 p.m.
WP Engine will host this month’s Austin Diversity in Tech Meetup. The event will include a fireside chat with individuals who are committed to closing the diversity gap. Sara Ines Calderon, organizer, Women Who Code Austin; Eddy Reyes, organizer, Austin Hispanic Hackers Meetup; Frank Robles, CTO, JustLegal.com; Hayley Netherton, venture associate, Capital Factory; and Ikechi Nwabuisi, venture associate, Capital Factory, will all participate.
WeWork Creator Awards, June 27 at 10 a.m.
On Tuesday, finalists from WeWork’s year-long initiative will present at the Creator Awards hosted by Moody Theater. At the event, WeWork will grant a total of $1.5 million to winners across three awards: The Incubate Award, The Launch Award and The Scale Award. In addition to the competition and awards ceremony, WeWork will host a pop-up market, master classes and job fair.
Tech Talk @ Bazaarvoice, June 28 6:30 p.m.
Two software engineers and one UX designer from Bazaarvoice will speak at this week’s Tech Talk to share field insights. Hosted by Women Who Code Austin, head to the Bazaarvoice office in North Austin to hear from Amalia Litsa, Emily Cahill and Harini Kumar. Refreshments and food will be provided.
HackerNest Austin June Tech Social, June 28 at 7 p.m.
Head to SCI-tech Academy this Wednesday for the HackerNest Tech Social, where you can connect with the Austin tech community over drinks. Travis Swicegood of Conde Nast, Lani Rosales of Austin Digital Jobs, Tricia Katz of Outdoor Voices, Mendy Yang of Vista Equity Partners and Scott Allen of General Motors will lead a discussion on startup roadblocks.
Civic Hack Saturday, July 1 at 9 a.m.
Drop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Dev Bootcamp to join this hands on meetup for “hackers" interested in contributing to civic apps. Developers, designers, writers, data analysts, policy wizards and people of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. Please bring a laptop and be prepared to work.
