Straight-to-your-door delivery service has been on the rise since the early days of Postmates, Drizly and Uber Eats. Uber has since acquired both Postmates and Drizly, which expanded its ability to deliver toiletries, takeout and liquor straight to consumers’ doorsteps. This week, a new cannabis delivery platform named Doobie has entered the Massachusetts market.
The expansion, announced on Thursday, carries Doobie’s cannabis delivery services beyond its other existing markets in Missouri, California and Arizona. Doobie’s mobile app allows consumers to explore nationwide cannabis brands and speak with Doobie expert consultants on demand, through chat or phone.
“We believe that on-demand delivery is the future of cannabis retail, and we want to provide customers with their favorite brands however they choose to shop,” Doobie co-founder Jessie Powell said in a statement.
Doobie isn’t the only emerging cannabis delivery company in Massachusetts either. Earlier this year, Lantern, a spinout from Boston-based Drizly, expanded its services in Boston from medical cannabis delivery to recreational delivery..
“Lantern’s latest expansion is driven by our underlying mission to provide exceptional cannabis experiences in our local communities by working with reliable business partners who share a common goal of making cannabis retail more transparent and accessible,” Meredith Mahoney, co-founder and CEO of Lantern, said in a statement.
