Diligent Robotics, an Austin-based developer of socially intelligent healthcare robots, has announced the appointment of Rashed Haq as chief technology officer and Todd Brugger as chief operating officer. According to a news release, both executives will play key roles in fueling the company’s next phase of growth as it looks to expand beyond U.S. hospital logistics.
Diligent is best known for its humanoid robot, Moxi, which assists healthcare workers with routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce burnout. Moxi is currently deployed in dozens of hospitals across the United States and is reported to save staff more than 600,000 hours.
Both Haq and Brugger join Diligent from autonomous vehicle company Cruise, where they helped build core self-driving technologies, scale operations to multiple cities and lead the deployment of a fleet of over 500 fully autonomous vehicles.
In their new roles, Haq will focus on advancing the AI roadmap and expanding the capabilities of Moxi, while Brugger will oversee the scaling of Diligent’s entire business, from robot production and deployment to in-field support.
