Today is the big day. Facebook shares are officially up for grabs to the public at a price of $38 per share. Al Pacino’s face was originally featured on the Facebook homepage. No, seriously, it’s true!
Prior to a homepage redesign in 2007, the face of a man shrouded by a layer of binary code was displayed on the top left side of Facebook’s front page. It wasn’t until David Kirkpatrick’s book, “The Facebook Effect”, that the identity of this “Facebook guy” came to light. The image was a manipulated photo of Al Pacino created by a friend and classmate of Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
