I have a crush on HTML and CSS. I'm finding that there's so many cool things you can create with only a few lines of code. It's genious and perfection.
In my class at The Starter League the past couple weeks, we've been learning some basic and practical things. We created our resumes in code. We learned how to make a form.
This week we made a calendar for the month of November. I really enjoyed this project, as simple as it may seem to you fancy web designers out there. It was fun to see basic text and numbers slowly transform into something very useful. I've also realized you can kind of lose yourself in the styling of even the most basic of things, with cool fonts, backgrounds, borders and shading.
Our instructor Shay encourages us to write about things that we're having trouble understanding. I'm not quite getting the difference between relative and absolute positioning and when to use each. Also, I think I'm getting the whole margin + border + padding situation but would love more examples and clarification. The formula to calculate width seems easy enough but when I try to execute it its kind of a mystery.
This week for the cupcake portion of this blog, I want to give a shout out to another cool blog I found called chickabug. I not only love the site's design, but they feature a really cool zebra cake. So technically not a cupcake, but looks tasty nonetheless! Here's the site: https://www.chickabug.com/blog/2011/08/how-to-make-a-zebra-cake.html
