I’m a reporter with Crain’s Chicago Business. I’m looking for sources for a group of stories about entrepreneurs who have exchanged equity in their business in return for professional services (consulting, legal work, web development, etc.) or made other alternate payment arrangements (barter, deferred payments, etc.) for services in order to save on cash.
I’m interested in hearing what you did and why you did it, what went right/wrong with the deal, what you’re happy/sad about, and what advice you’d have for other entrepreneurs considering a similar arrangement. If you don’t have experience with this sort of thing but you know of any entrepreneurs or service providers who do, I’d be grateful to get their names from you.
If you’ve got a story or observation to share, it could result in some publicity for your business in Crain’s. To reach me, email [email protected]. Please include a sentence or two about your business and the nature of the payment arrangement you’re offering to discuss. Thanks.
