Last week CompTIA, a tech educational platform, released its October tech jobs report. Out of all U.S. cities, the Dallas metro had the third most tech jobs posted last month, falling behind New York and Washington, D.C.

For the month of October, CompTIA reported that companies listed 18,971 tech jobs in the Dallas metro. New York had nearly 22,000 tech job postings and Washington, D.C. had 19,213. The Dallas metro, however, had the most job posting changes month-over-month and added more than 4,000 new listings in October, according to the report.

The Lone Star State also ranked second for total tech job postings and for remote tech job postings, according to the report. California ranked first in both categories.

Looking back at CompTIA’s 2020 Tech Towns report, which determines the best places for tech professionals to live, DFW ranked second for most desirable tech city. That report looked at housing cost, projected job growth in addition to the number of tech jobs postings. DFW lagged behind neighboring Austin but still beat out several other prominent tech hubs.

Between August 2019 and July 2020, more than 178,5400 IT jobs were posted in the DFW metro. Lockheed Martin, JPMorgan Chase, USAA, Citi had the most job listings during that time frame.

Several tech companies are currently hiring in the DFW metro, too. Verily, which will open an office in Dallas early next year, plans to hire 115 employees in IT, sales and marketing. BackBox announced the opening of its new headquarters in Dallas last month and plans to double the company’s headcount by the end of 2022.
