Citing standard of living, Bay Area tech employees long for NYC

According to a new survey, Bay Area tech workers are looking to escape, and they want to escape to New York.

The survey, created by the tech hiring research firm Woo.io, found that almost thirty precent of the Bay Area’s tech workforce wanted to leave. That was up about seven percent from just the end of last year. Of those, a whopping 46 percent said they were interested in moving to New York — an increase of almost 10 percent since the end of last year.

To put that into perspective, that would mean that around 91 thousand tech workers want to leave the Bay Area tech scene for greener pastures in the Big Apple. Interestingly, the survey found more interest in employees at large, established tech companies compared to those working at smaller startups.

The survey also found that workers in the Bay Area were interested in moving to New York because of an overall higher quality of life, which is not really something you generally associate with life in the Big Apple.
