If recent Chicago tech news is any indication, the remainder of 2021 looks to be an exciting cap to the year.
Copado, a multi-cloud DevOps platform, recently raised $140 million and as a result joined the long list of Chicago-based unicorns. Investment group Blackstone acquired Chicago-based Sphera for $1.5 billion. And Coinflip, the cryptocurrency ATM operator, announced they’ll be moving their headquarters to a 44,000-square-foot space in the Old Main Post Office building.
Looking to join the buzz? Our two featured companies of the month have some exciting growth opportunities and, better yet, are looking for dozens of new hires to join their ranks.

What they do: Wonder how goods get from Point A to Point B so fast? You might have Mastery Logistics to thank. The company’s cloud-based transportation management system (TMS) supports shippers, brokers and carriers across supply chains, providing automation, visibility and productivity where it wasn’t before.
The learning never stops: At Mastery, learning is analogous to a software update, says Senior Engineering Manager Arun Umapathy. “If you are not updating your internal software, you won’t be able to keep up with new rigors of the world and will be left behind. Mastery offers us an education credit that encourages learning and self-improvement, and that is very refreshing.”
The future is bright: “If you look at what we have built in the last 12 months, it’s easy to look to the future with optimism and excitement,” Senior Sales Manager of Client Engagement Danielle Prigge previously told Built In. “MasterMind is going to impact all employees within an organization and a customer base that can help drive change that benefits everyone in the industry.”

What they do: Home Chef is a meal kit provider that last year alone delivered more than 10 million meals. Founded in 2013 by CEO Pat Vihtelic, the company has over 700 employees and, as of this writing, is hiring for an additional 20 more.
Together as one: In 2020, Home Chef created a diversity, equity and inclusion council to create a more inclusive environment for the company and the communities and customers it reaches. “I love that we’re not willing to settle for ‘good enough’ on this front and that our company continues to hold itself accountable,” Senior Software Engineer Lauren Scott told Built In earlier this year.
Perks aplenty: In addition to staples like 401(k) matching, flexible work schedule and generous parental leave, Home Chef also boasts home office stipends, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, and more.
