Catapult Chicago announces new aqua-mobile platform for mobile developers.
In the spirit of mobile development and Chicago's position on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan, Catapult has acquired a 147 foot tug and outfitted with all the tools necessary for mobile web development.
The tug, equipped with ice breaking capabilities for year round operation, will patrol lake Michigan with teams of mobile developers developing cool stuff. Christened "Catapult Blue", the state of the art ship will give Catapult resident companies unparalleled access to the best extreme collaboration locations (or "ECLs" as they are known in the business).
The ship will embark on it's first mission in mid-May just in time for the early King Salmon season. While crew will be required to take swimming lessons (or wear floaties), they are excited about the prospect of aquacollaboration at the best ECLs. "Some of my best work has been done right after landing a king salmon" said Kelly S., mobile development chief for 5Degrees, a Catapult resident company. "I've already started saying ahoy! instead of hello," he added.
The excitement is palpable at Catapult. Vishal Shah, co-founder of Catapult, hinted at even further news to come. "Ever hear of a guy called Elon Musk and a little space project he's got going? Let's just say that if web coolness on water is a plus, it's even more radical if you're weightless. This is only the beginning." CatapultX?
Catapult Chicago's land-based operations are situated on the 25th floor of 321 N Clark. It launched last month and serves as an advanced technology community changing how the tech community works in an already unique place - Chicago. Recently, featured in Crain's locally and in The Next Web and the Wall Street Journal nationally, Catapult seems is really taking off. This next step really sets the innovation bar high. Bon Voyage Catapult!
