Dear Built in Chicago members,

So, it is time for you to visit the site and follow us on Twitter, to get your daily dose of all things digital in Chicago-I promise it will be worth the 5 minutes you spend. Plus, check out our new home page slider which highlights some of our awesome members and digital companies in Chicago.  Is your logo missing from our company listingSend it to us today.

A huge congratulations to John Giuliani, CEO and Ken Treske, COO & CMO for the $295 million sale of Dotomi to ValueClick. This is a huge exit, one of the largest digital technology company sales of the year for Chicago. When thinking about how one success helps to seed another it is notable that John sat on the board of CoolSavings and Ken was the CMO and a number of Dotomi's staff also came from CoolSavings. First generation digital companies have helped to seed the second generation and now this generation will spawn even more. This is the way to ecosystem should work! These huge exits are both a validation of our success and predictor of future growth.

Spotlight on BrightTag: An All-Star Team With All-Star Investors
What do you get when you bring three serial entrepreneurs (Marc KivenEric Lunt & Mike Sands) with complementary skill sets together with local investors (New World Ventures, I2A Fund and several prominent local angel investors)? The Answer:BrightTag, a Chicago-based startup that is leading the charge to help website owners control how they collect and share their data. With BrightTag, website owners and agencies can work with marketing partners without ever bothering IT, drive more effective marketing and media campaigns, control what data is collected and shared with the many partners they work with, and keep innovating amid an ever-changing digital landscape.

We sat down with Eric Lunt (FeedBurner, Spyonit.com,Technology Advisor to Twitter) and Mike Sands (Orbitz) to hear more about BrightTag. One thing was clear: Hiring is serious business. The company is taking a measured approach to building the team to maintain its unique combination of talent and early-stage culture.

Speaking of culture, from surprise treats every Thursday, a steady stream of beats by DJ Lunt, and routine social outings to local concerts, and even bowling...the team is motivated to work hard and play hard. With 25 employees and growing (plus one new hire via Built in Chicago), they are on pace to create another local success story. If you are interested in learning more please reach out and introduce yourselves to the Featured Members from BrightTag this week.
