Waldo adds $4M in fresh funding

Waldo Photos landed $4 million in funding last week from six investors, according to an SEC filing. The startup, founded in 2015, uses facial recognition technology and mobile delivery to connect professional photographers with the subjects of their shoots. AI startup Olono raises $3M

Olono, which is an Austin-based startup that helps sales reps close deals faster, has raised $3 million in new funding from eight investors, according to a filing with the state. Founded in 2015, Olono delivers an AI platform that provides sales teams with real-time reports and caller insight. [FormDs]

Juniper Square scores $25M Series B

Juniper Square, a fintech startup supporting real estate investments based in San Francisco and Austin, recently raised $25 million in new investments. Ribbit Capital led the Series B with participation from Felicis Ventures, Zigg Capital, and other investors from the real estate sector. Bractlet secures $1.2 in funding

Bractlet, a greentech startup that uses machine learning to optimize building energy output, raised about $1.2 million from two investors, according to an SEC filing. CTO Brian Keith Smith co-founded Bractlet in 2012. [FormDs]

Hypergiant acquires Seattle startup

Austin-based Hypergiant announced this week that it has acquired Black Pixel, a Seattle-based boutique software design firm. The acquisition will help Hypergiant’s commercial services division, Hypergiant Space Age Solutions, develop and deliver customized AI solutions for enterprises at a faster rate. As part of the deal, Black Pixel founder and CEO Daniel Pasco will join Hypergiant Space Age Solutions as director of engineering. [Press Release]

Apple’s new $1B Austin campus

On Friday morning, Apple broke the news that it’s opening a new corporate office in North Austin estimated at $1 billion and with room for up to 15,000 employees. Apple will initially bring on 5,000 employees for engineering, research and development, operations, finance, sales and customer support roles. Construction is set to begin in 2019. Vapor IO, an Austin startup developing disaggregated data center solutions, appointed Jacques Greyling as chief operating officer last week. Greyling joins Vapor IO from a 15-year career at Rackspace. Throughout his time at Rackspace, Greyling held multiple leadership titles including most recently SVP of Global Infrastructure. ASG announced that is has acquired Austin healthtech firm KaleidaCare. Launched 24 years ago, KaleidaCare provides online tracking and management solutions for social service organizations.
