AI research innovator Anthropic announced a strategic partnership with software giant Microsoft and chip maker NVIDIA that will fuel the continued growth of its Claude AI model. Under the terms of the deal, Anthropic will scale its model on Microsoft’s Azure platform, leveraging power from NVIDIA’s architecture.
NVIDIA and Microsoft will each invest up to $10 billion and $5 billion in Anthropic, respectively. Anthropic has also committed to purchasing $30 billion of Azure compute capacity, and the partnership will help expand model choice and access to new capabilities for Azure enterprise customers.
Anthropic is furthering its existing partnership with Microsoft to broaden access to Claude for businesses, granting Microsoft Foundry customers access to Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.1 and Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft will also continue providing Claude access for its Copilot offerings.
Anthropic will collaborate with NVIDIA to optimize its models for performance and efficiency and ensure future NVIDIA architectures can sustain Anthropic workloads. Anthropic’s initial compute commitment will include up to 1 gigawatt of compute capacity with NVIDIA Grace Blackwell and Vera Rubin systems.
Amazon will continue to serve as Anthropic’s primary cloud provider and training partner.
