Allen Control Systems, a defense technology manufacturer headquartered in Austin, was included on VC firm Overmatch’s first annual Austin Deep Tech 50. The 2026 list includes pre-IPO organizations with a substantial corporate presence in Austin that focus on solutions in the deep technology space.

The company develops autonomous precision weapon systems, such as its Bullfrog station, which leverages passive machine vision to target small enemy drones with standard military machine guns. This technology offers customers like the U.S. Army a more cost-effective way to handle drones than firing missiles at them. Allen Control Systems is scaling this solution at a 191,000-square-foot facility in Austin.

The Deep Tech 50 list serves to highlight why Austin is a top market for engineering innovation in the U.S. Austin-based Venture capital firms Overmatch, Valor, 8VC, Banner VC, B Capital, Ambition, Ensemble VC and Trust Ventures voted to include the final companies based on their impact on the Austin deep tech ecosystem. The companies featured raised more than $10 billion in the last twelve months for their solutions.
