AfterQuery is an applied research lab curating datasets for AI models. The company recently announced a $30 million round of Series A funding. This raise, spearheaded by Altos Ventures, values AfterQuery at $300 million.
The company equips AI labs with components necessary for advancing their models, applying human intuition and institutional knowledge from approximately 100,000 experts across various domains to its datasets and reinforcement learning environments. Equipped with its fresh capital, AfterQuery plans to grow its expert network, expand its domain coverage and hire talent across operations, engineering and research.
“For most of human history, expertise has been scarce, constrained by the time and reach of an individual. Until now,” Spencer Mateega, AfterQuery’s co-founder and CEO, said in a statement. “This influx of capital will allow us to further support our customers by encoding the reasoning of the world’s best professionals into models to carry that knowledge further than any individual ever could.”
