5 Austin coffee shops perfect for entrepreneurs, freelancers, and remote workers

Are you itching to get out of the office today? It's Wednesday and we all need a bit of a change of scenery. Do yourself a favor and schedule a meeting at one of these five delicious coffee shops. You'll not only get out of the office, but you'll also get a chance to give your brain a much-needed caffeine jolt -- or, who are we kidding, have a beer.

Jo’s Coffee Downtown - 242 W 2nd Street

What it is: Jo’s is a coffeeshop -- a delicious, delicious coffee shop.

WiFi: Free

Why it’s good for a meeting: Jo’s is centrally located, there is a lot of indoor seating (read air conditioning) and a pretty large dog-friendly patio. The vibe is relaxed and you can certainly get away with a coffee meeting, interview or even a smaller meetup without attracting too much attention.

What you should order: It’s hard to not order something with a name like ‘Pork Frito Pie,’ but they’re probably better known for their heart palpitation inducing Iced Turbo.

Espression Lavazza - 914 Congress Street

What it is: It’s a sandwich shop and cafe. Think Austin does Euro bistro-cafe.

WiFi: Free

Why it’s good for a meeting: The ambiance is just about perfect for a lunch meeting or a chat over an afternoon coffee. It probably wouldn’t be the best location for a larger meeting or meetup.

What you should order: It’s hard to go wrong with quiche and a coffee.

Wright Bros Brew & Brew - 500 San Marcos Street

What it is: Take your favorite beer bar, match it with your favorite coffee shop and then put it in East Austin.

WiFi: Free

Why it’s good for a meeting: Not only does this place have some of the best coffee in the city, it also has a great beer selection. Pick this place for an informal meeting or if you want to up your hipster cred.

What you should order: Before noon, an aeropress coffee; after noon, a Left Hand Nitro Milk Stout.

Halcyon - 218 W 4th Street

What it is: It’s a bar/restaurant/coffee house. The great thing about Halcyon is it is whatever you need it to be.

WiFi: Free

Why it’s good for a meeting: It’s fun, it’s comfortable and they have a full bar -- just in case it turns into that sort of meeting.

What you should order: S'mores -- you get to make them yourself over a tiny fire.

Houndstooth - 401 Congress Avenue

What it is: A coffee shop. And a good one.

WiFi: Free

Why it’s good for a meeting: This place is perfect for a quiet breakfast meeting.

What you should order: Coffee -- duh.
