Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Systems Engineer I is responsible for supporting and managing an organizations' computer systems, including software, hardware, and networks. They are responsible for designing, installing, and supporting the entire system or may specialize in one area of the computer system, such as security infrastructure or telecommunications. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, design technical solutions, and implement best practices to maintain a high-quality computer operations environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement, maintain, and support computer networks including servers, VPNs, routers, switches, and other hardware and virtual appliances and machines.
  • Manage configuration, installation, and maintenance of network communication and data networks and tools.
  • Maintain and monitor computer networks and associated computing environments like software systems, software applications, equipment, and configurations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and solve hardware, software, and other issues affecting the network and devices.
  • Implement disaster recovery environments and networks, DR procedures, and testing.
  • Perform assessment and analysis of the company's data communication network, identify needs, and recommend solutions to ensure the underlying architecture of all networks (LAN/WAN, WLAN, SDN) results in maximum performance and functionality.
  • As required, perform or assist Security Operations with assessment and analysis of the company's data security infrastructure to ensure that the security posture within the network architecture meets SOC 2 and ISO 27000 requirements.
  • Conduct ongoing IT infrastructure monitoring to ensure SLA uptime, analyze issues and problems across the network infrastructure, provide technical solutions and resolve issues affecting the operation and performance of the network.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance documentation of the network infrastructure and security including design documents, operations documents, troubleshooting guides and training materials including product, test, and DR environment.
  • Support, monitor and maintain SSO / SAML compliance, VPN, APIs, and other tools.
  • Assist in conducting firewall implementation, configuration, maintenance, and support.
  • Assist in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the network, systems, data communication network, and documentation to meet the required levels of SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance.
  • Work with Information Security team on the information security design, implementation, and monitoring of corporate networks, data, applications, and hardware.
  • Work with IT team to help develop, make recommendations, and conduct research on emerging cloud technologies and cloud networking to support infrastructure development efforts.
  • Work closely with business and client operations teams in maintaining computer operations, meeting SLA uptime and availability.
  • Understand the Crypto Currency Mining industry and how to apply those unique requirements to the corporate network infrastructure.
  • Stay up to date with technology industry changes to assist in keeping the organization's infrastructure up to date and optimized.
  • Train users in the use of new IT systems and hardware.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, design technical solutions, and implement best practices
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned while supporting, growing, and maintaining the business as assigned by the Director of IT.
  • Assist in annual DR Tests and provide analysis and recommendation after review of Pen Test.
  • Assist in managing all 3rd party vendors.
  • Provide Level 1 and 2 support.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned while supporting, growing, and maintaining the business as assigned by the Director of IT.

ROLE QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

  • Strong understanding of technology infrastructure and IT Operation principles and best practices
  • Bachelor's degree; or related education and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 to 10 years of network engineering, architecture and security.
  • Strong knowledge in SOC, NIST, and ISO 27000.
  • A solid understanding of IT costs and their impact on the business.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal skills, written communication skills, being able to communicate with IT personnel, management, and business operations in technical and business terms, as required, on IT issues and projects.
  • Ability to work split shifts and be available for emergency onsite support and DR situations if requested.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time between multiple company sites.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of virtualization and cloud technologies.

PREFERRED

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • CCNP preferred, minimum CCNA.

WORKING CONDITIONS/EQUIPMENT USE

  • Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds
  • Frequent use of office machines to include telephone, computer, and printer
