Strategic Sourcing Intern

We all together make the difference for our customers every day. The role reports to the Supply Chain Manager - Drive Products and is located in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Your responsibilities

  • You will have an opportunity to learn Category Management and negotiation as part of the Strategic Sourcing team
  • You will evaluate and present a recommendation for the next generation actions and test best financial, and business fit for current Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
  • You will develop an efficient audit process to validate material and financial accuracy
  • Work directly with suppliers to setup and establish flow of materials in a new facility/process
  • Due to a factory transfer, you will drive plans, updates and action to balance inventory and ensure on time delivery to both sites
  • Optimize the visibility and overall efficiency of VMI, Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies (MRO) purchasing and indirect purchasing process
  • Mentoring and networking opportunities
  • Personal and professional development programing will be offered to all interns. This programing will include global and local sessions

Your background

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program in the US
  • Must be currently authorized to work for ABB in the US
  • Self-starter; you will be empowered to ensure this program is on track and personal responsibility is required
  • Familiarity and comfort using Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the work site is the responsibility of the intern
  • Desire to be on the manufacturing floor and interact with the manufacturing process
  • Knowledge of SAP, prior experience is helpful
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
