The UX Content Strategy (UXC) Team sits within the StreetEasy Experience Design team, a multidisciplinary group of user experience practitioners, including research and product design. We are a fast-paced, collaborative, and driven team with a mission to help current and future New Yorkers discover, buy, sell, or rent a home. We're a tight-knit, fun-loving, and upbeat group dedicated to building useful, usable, and innovative experiences for consumers and business partners!

Used more than any other local real estate platform, StreetEasy's website and mobile apps provide vetted and verified listings, plus intuitive search tools and data-driven guides to help people unlock the opportunity of living here. Launched in 2006 and based in NoMad, Manhattan, StreetEasy is owned and operated by Zillow Group (NASDAQ: Z and ZG) and is a registered trademark of Zillow, Inc.

About the role

At StreetEasy, UX Content Strategy (UXC) solves how our product uses language to connect with consumers and business partners. For us, language means more than writing! We're part systems problem solvers, information architects, and human storytellers.

As a senior UX content strategist, you'll own UXC efforts across multiple business areas supported by vertically focused cross-functional working groups. During your self-directed day-to-day, you'll partner most with product managers, product designers, and engineers in order to deliver strategic direction and deliver research-driven content for consumers and business partners. From crafting conversational narratives for flows to setting up systems-driven controlled vocabularies, you'll flex your approach to make impact at scale. Beyond working on our product experience, you'll also support advancing and fortifying the UXC practice at StreetEasy.

You Will Get To:

Product work

  • Own planning and prioritizing your assigned focus areas and projects. Define your approach, activities, and timing, plus coordinate your working group partners' contributions.
  • Sell in your investigative ideas, design concepts, and refined solutions by articulating data-backed rationale, wielding positive relationships, and steering decision-making.
  • Lead discussions and workshops with cross-functional partners to get input on and facilitate alignment around your immediate work.
  • Generate frameworks, patterns, and standards for using language effectively to elevate experience quality, drive successful product use, and empower your partners.
  • Author product-content requirements to clarify sophisticated content systems, experiences, or features, helping to streamline product implementation by engineers.
  • Present your work in small and large forums like design crits and product reviews to raise its visibility and gather feedback proactively from partners, collaborators, and leaders.
  • Evaluate your product impact by generating and earning consensus on UXC impact metrics, research, and testing in partnership with or empowered by your research teammates.
  • Determine how UXC standard processes infuse into our foundational components by supporting the StreetEasy Design System.

UXC practice operations

  • Test and optimize operations to grow a UXC practice of one into a sustaining practice of two.
  • Invest in relationships within and outside your focus areas to raise practice value and impact.
  • Conceptualize and test new ways to tell the story of UXC at StreetEasy helping to educate the org.
  • Empower your partners to take on tactical UXC standard methodologies via education and mentorship.
  • Use your UXC lens to advocate for our users and product experience quality.
  • Partner with your fellow UXC practitioner to define and evolve StreetEasy's content quality standards, plus voice, tone, and style guidelines.
