Microsoft's Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world's computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

The Cloud Manufacturing Operations and Fulfilment (CMOF) organization within CSCP manages manufacturing operations and fulfillment of IT hardware for Microsoft's data centers worldwide. We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager for our Supply Chain Cloud Decommission Management Team.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to manage decommissioning of our cloud hardware. Success in this role requires the ability to co-envision new strategies for how we work with our data to support the business with an open mind to continuous improvement and adaptation to changing business needs. To get this right on a global scale, we require an individual who can drive alignment across multiple Operations, Customers, and Engineering organizations in a fast paced and ever-changing landscape.

With a technical program management and process improvement mindset, this role is responsible for end of life management and decommissioning execution of Cloud capacity.

• Leads in developing; enabling a decommissioning plan that enables alignment to our lifecycle policy through cross-functional alignment, including finance, capacity planning, and engineering groups.• Develops a deep understanding of Microsoft's lifecycle management; decommissioning process, from planning through execution • Understands the fleet health and other driving factors to help prioritize the decom schedule Project manages server decommissioning through the decommissioning cycle • Owns metrics and analytics that show the performance of the decom schedule against goals, as well as trending• Establishes and owns decommission plan and drives improvements to decom accuracy through establishing a constrained decommissioning plan; work with engineering groups to secure throughput • Defines and owns the technical vision for meeting customer operational tooling needs to enable automation; improved data accuracy • Makes data-driven decisions and speaks to key stakeholders in terms of data-driven stories. Utilizes enhanced tooling, reports and dashboards to drive daily and weekly triage of blockers in the system as well as predictive indicators for demand to be on track • Develops and drives strategies to manage deployment demand through the decommissioning workflow management system (Forecast Plan Execute) in alignment with organizational goals related to throughput and cycle time • Develops engineering requirements and collaborates with partner software engineering teams to develop automation that allow us to scale to unprecedented volumes

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years industry in a complex cross-functional matrixed environment, technical program management, and Infrastructure deployment operations
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain principles - Planning, Sourcing and Delivering
  • Demonstrated technical problem solving and analytical, verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills with attention to detail
  • Experience with data analysis/presentation, SQL and Power BI or equivalent skills and knowledge
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment with rapidly changing requirements
  • Understanding of process engineering and optimization, including gathering, analyzing, and defining business and functional requirements; creating global metrics, trend charts and other decision-making tools

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
