In this role, you will:

  • Set the technical vision and direction for the team as we refactor PAS systems to the cloud
  • Grow the technical skillset of the team by coaching, inspiring and driving your team members to improve each day
  • Be a trusted partner to our business and internal stakeholders. Working closely with them to understand the problems they face and translating them into technical solutions the team can deliver
  • As a technical leader on an agile team, you'll work within the team to break down problems into epics and user stories during backlog grooming and sprint planning

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide expert level IT technical lead services and direction for critical software, middleware, or hardware projects on multiple platforms. Provide technical expertise and complete sophisticated development, design, implementation, architecture design specification, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the viability of IT work. Recommend development options and approves the team's technical work. Conduct testing, including functionality, technical limitations, and security.
  • Identify potential solutions and approve technical solutions proposed by team members. Elevate complex technical issues to IT experts. Resolve technical problems discovered by testers and internal clients. Respond to and resolve technical issues in a timely manner. Research issues and perform root cause analysis. Anticipate technology problems and prevents them.
  • Communicate with key partners on project issues and implications. Evaluate the impacts of change requests on technologies and effectively persuade and influence others on ideas.
  • Maintain a current and solid understanding of IT development methodology, architecture design, and technical standards. Mentor IT staff and identify training needs. As new standards are instituted, ensure their usage by team members.
  • Review and approve documentation and diagrams built by IT team members. Write documentation, including technical standards and processes.
  • Find opportunities for continuous quality improvement of technical standards, methodologies, and technologies.
  • Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout product life cycle to identify issues. Participate as a technical consultant at other project meetings. Present technical status and issues at milestone reviews.
  • Thoroughly understand and stay in sync with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verify that work meet requirements.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Technology Skillset:

  • Senior experience with 2 or more of the following languages or frameworks
    • Angular
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • Java REST Services - Spring, Jersey
    • Python
    • SQL
    • Test Automation Frameworks - NodesJS, Jasmine, Junit, Cucumber
  • Senior experience with 2 more of the following AWS services / concepts
    • DynamoDB
    • IAM Roles / Permissions
    • Lambda
    • SQS/SNS
    • S3
  • Strong familiarity and experience with DevOps concepts, tools and continuous delivery pipelines
    • Git
    • Cucumber
    • Jenkins/Bamboo
    • Jira
    • Bitbucket
    • Spring Suite

Bonus Points:

  • AWS certification in AWS Developer, Architect or DevOps
  • Working knowledge of DB2 and legacy relational database technologies, as well as navigating Java and UI's in JSP, etc. for understanding current state as needed.
  • Comfortable with working through uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Skilled in communicating technical information with both technical and non-technical peers.
  • Hands on. Persistent. Creative. You know how to get things done.

What it Takes:

  • Minimum of eight years related work experience, with at least three years of development experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
