About the Role:

The Senior Director of Tax is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, return preparation, compliance, and strategy for the organization. This role requires an experienced tax professional with in-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles. The Senior Director of Tax will lead a customer facing tax department and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure tax services are delivered to Collective’s customers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance:
    • Oversee the preparation and filing of all required federal and state tax returns for Collective’s customers. 
  • Tax Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize customer tax positions while ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
    • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and adjust tax strategies accordingly.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Build and lead a high-performing tax department, including hiring, training, and development of tax professionals.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the tax team.
    • Create, manage and implement training programs.
    • Manage tax leads to ensure their work meets the highest standards for Collective.
  • Tax Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess tax-related risks and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Maintain a system of internal controls related to tax compliance and reporting.
  • Tax Technology and Systems:
    • Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within the tax function.
    • Evaluate and implement tax technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Help create a roadmap for future features that will drive member satisfaction.

What we want you to bring:

  • CPA or EA required.
  • Masters in Tax or MBA preferred. 
  • +10 years of public tax experience with sole proprietors and S Corps.
  • Extensive experience with tax preparation and review. 
  • Experience with US multi-State compliance.
  • Experience in managing a team of 20 or greater.
  • Experience managing internal audit processes and controls.
  • Strong command of tax and accounting systems like QuickBooks, Xero, UltraTax CS, and Practice CS. Experience with SurePrep preferred.
  • Strong attention to details, time and project management skills.
  • Adaptability with ever changing tax laws and regulations and new learning opportunities.
  • Extensive experience in customer conflict resolution.
  • Comfortable and effective at juggling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced and ever changing work environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

What we offer in return:

Compensation Range: $190,000 - $237,000 USD annual base salary.
