Senior Speaker Design and Development Engineer

In-vehicle audio systems are critically important to the customer's experience in our vehicles as Ford transitions from a manufacturer of vehicles to a producer of vehicles for the delivery of digital experiences and brand enhancing services. This position will play a key role in that transition and in developing and delivering class leading in-vehicle customer experiences and services.

This role will lead the engineering of high-performance automotive speakers for future generations of vehicles.

Responsibilities

What you'll do

  • Lead technical specification, design, development, and validation of high-performance automotive speakers and vehicle speaker layouts/architectures to deliver best-in-class performance, attributes, reliability, and efficiency from concept through production.
  • Lead the development of test and design verification processes for speaker components and speaker systems.
  • Lead interfaces with key internal and external cross functional stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Verify complete products for conformance to design specifications, operational and safety standards such as IEC 62638.
  • Manage documentation within Ford systems for validation, CAD, and bill of materials.
  • Be a resource for model engineering teams in support of component integration, program delivery, and issue resolution; be a corporate resource for all speaker related technologies.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends and advancements in automotive audio and speaker technologies, materials, and processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for continuous improvement/benchmarking initiatives in speaker design, production & quality processes

Qualifications

You'll have

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field
  • 5+ years of experience leading design, development, and delivery of automotive speaker components and systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with engineering and acoustic principles, steel forming, plastic molding, speaker construction, and vehicle integration
  • 5+ years of experience with acoustic simulation and analysis software
  • 3+ years of experience in 3D CAD and FEA.

Even better, you may have

  • Master's Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field
  • Passion for automotive audio systems and components.
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to supplier and Ford manufacturing sites.
