Senior Software Development Engineer

What does a successful Software Development Engineer do at Fiserv?

You will be involved in end-to-end application delivery in a multi-platform environment: mainframe, client server, web. You will plan, analysis, and forecast to plan projects and tasks. You will create high-quality, high-value deliverables, and remain professional when under pressure. You will adhere to standards and consult with leadership on solution design. You will travel about 10% with this role.

What you will do:

• Analyze complex requirements, translate business requirements into product designs; write functional and technical specifications documentation
• Analyze and modify logic in existing applications and develop program logic for new applications
• Code, test, debug, document, implement and provide recommends and maintain software applications
• Perform evaluation and test mainframe code, troubleshoot performance problems, prepare code for deployment, and complete SDLC documentation
• Resolve complex and diverse issues: identify underlying or hidden problems and patterns
• Support business systems apps, and lead disaster recovery

What you will need to have:

• 8+ years of experience in Cobol, JCL, DB2, CA7, and VSAM
• Experience in the full Software Development Life Cycle and Testing Methodologies
• Experience in card and payment industry: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and other private label brands
• Ability to work some nights and weekends throughout the year for production code deployment and team support schedule
• Previous experience with Fiserv platforms and systems
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, or military experience

What would be great to have:

• Advanced Degree and/or Technology Certifications
• Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Java, C, or C++
• Experience in technical design writing and documentation
