The Senior Manager of FP&A will serve as a finance partner to our business functions and program leads, reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis. The incumbent will be a hands-on contributor to the FP&A function, providing strategic and tactical decision support for the entire company, driving efforts to scale and streamline planning and reporting processes and financial steering to ensure the business meets our financial objectives. This role will be highly visible, managing and executing budgets and forecasts, developing corporate model valuations and there will also be many opportunities for ad hoc support, analysis, and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with FP&A team to develop Operating plan (Budget) calendar to ensure business partners are clear on timelines in order to meet financial deliverables due to Bayer
  • Partner with BlueRock’s Department & Program leads across critical R&D and G&A functions to manage an annual operating plan that includes headcount, operating expenses, and capital investments
  • Prepare budget/forecast templates for input into EPM, ensure the data is accurate and understand key variances to produce key summary reports/presentations
  • Develop forecasts by partnering with Department & program leads for business updates and identify potential risks & opportunities.
  • Develop and manage Corporate financial models to evaluate short-term and long-term financial scenarios.
  • Produce management reports on a monthly and quarterly basis that analyze financial performance vs budget and prior forecasts
  • Liaise with the Program Management team, Finance and functional leads to support R&D financial benchmarking initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of key financial slides for board meetings and executive committee meetings
  • Coordinate with accounting department for month end closes and provide content around business performance and accrual support to aid in financial reporting.
  • Understanding of procurement, procurement controls, and procurement related data structures
  • Develop, maintain, and improve processes, tools, and systems to enhance financial tracking and reporting, including driving the implementation of new FP&A tool - shifting away from excel based planning

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field, is required
  • 7 or more years of experience in Accounting, Consulting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) field is preferred
  • Life Sciences (biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical device) industry experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software Suite and fluency in Excel, including skills such as Vlookup, Index/Match, Pivots, What if scenarios, etc.
  • Understanding of corporate finance, including the interaction of income statement, cash flow statement, and balance sheet is preferred
  • Knowledge of Oracle (ERP/EPM) and Coupa (procurement) applications preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely with all levels
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Thrives in fast-paced environments with ability to manage and complete projects with time constraints
  • Ability to successfully work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
